My passion is helping individuals find their path to wellness. I believe in holistic wellness and that integrating various modalities of treatment enhances the benefits of therapy. I encourage my clients to be curious about how they can cultivate lifestyle changes to think, emote and behave in ways that foster personal wellbeing and contentment.
I am passionate about my role in helping others navigate their individual paths to wellness. In my 20s I lost my younger brother and then my mother and through my own therapeutic journey I discovered my calling to help others work on understanding and processing emotions and achieve their own personal growth.
I specialize in treating individuals who experience depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, cPTSD, emotion dysregulation, grief, OCD, and in helping individuals learn to love themselves and develop strong relationships with the people in their lives. I have a special interest in working with individuals who identify as highly sensitive and/or who experience emotions at a higher intensity than the average person (regardless of diagnosis).
I also love to work with parents of highly emotional teens and children to help them learn strategies to evolve their parenting to work more effectively.
In addition to providing general therapy, I also offer sport psychology for equestrians. I myself am an avid equestrian and have been competing in the sport since I was young. In my teens I was highly competitive and rode with a prolific coach in the area. Working with a sport psychologist in my teens was pivotal in my success in the saddle and it is a passion of mine to help athletes in the equestrian world connect mental and emotional training with their physical training programs. If you need help overcoming mental and emotional blocks that impede performance, I may be the right therapist for you!
I work with adults and teens 14+.
Emily completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Calgary and Masters of Counselling at City University of Seattle in Calgary.
Emily has a range of experience working and volunteering with children and adolescents including working in therapeutic campus-based care, out-of-school care, and teaching art classes. Emily also has experience working or volunteering in the mental health field in various capacities, including big sister mentorship, learning support, and crisis response for the Kids Help Phone/Crisis Text Line.
Emily believes therapy can be helpful for anyone, even if they are unsure where to start. Individuals may seek therapy for help with anxiety, depression, self-harm, anger or behavioural problems, emotion regulation challenges, relationship or familial conflict, life transitions, or grief and bereavement, to name a few.
Emily works with children, teens and adult clients on an individual basis.
I am dedicated to supporting everyone in reaching their wellness goals and living their most fulfilling life. I am passionate about looking at ‘the big picture’ and wholeheartedly believe in holistic wellness.
I take pride in my ability to create a safe and welcoming space for others as they navigate through the therapeutic process. I believe in the power of an empathetic and warm supportive presence and am committed to being that for my clients.
In terms of approach, I like to draw from different styles such as person-centered, strength-based, humanistic, CBT, solution-based, and rational-emotive behavioural therapy. My goal is to adapt my approach to the needs of my clients.
I specialize in supporting clients who experience concerns with anxiety, self-doubts, life transitions, emotional processing, and stress. My purpose is to support clients in developing and maintaining a lifestyle that aligns with their wellness goals. I work with clients of all genders aged 14+.
